Turkey is a country that is rich in history and traditions as well as stunning scenery and fantastically friendly locals. With all that in mind you can quite easily see why Turkey is such a popular tourist destination. Tourism has been on the increase here since the early 90’s and resorts have gotten bigger and better, with more facilities and activities to keep the whole family entertained. There are many places that you can visit in Turkey and be assured of a great time, but here is a list of the top 6 summer resorts in Turkey.
1. Side – located approximately 45 minutes from Antayla International airport, Side is a unique holiday experience. Cottages are nestled alongside ancient ruins and the town’s winding streets lead to the harbor and have plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Side has plenty of beaches offering the more energetic water sports or a quiet idyll for relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.
2. Kas – is situated in a bay where the Aegean joins the Mediterranean Sea and is located 3 hours from Antalya airport. One of the quieter summer resorts in Turkey Kas is rich in history. The symbol of the town is a Lycian Tomb, which stands 5 meters high. Kas is unspoilt and a great place to get a feel for the real Turkey.
3. Bodrum – probably the best known of the summer resorts in Turkey, Bodrum is popular for its night life and as a resort that never sleeps. That said it is family friendly because it is so large and has many parts that are for families only. Kids will be able to enjoy a range of water sports and activities and parents can relax on the beach. With plenty of great bars and restaurants and plenty to see and do, Bodrum can offer something for everyone.
4. Kemer – is situated at the base of the Taurus Mountains and is set around a crescent bay. This is a great place to base yourself if you enjoy exploring ruins as the ancient city of Olympus is fairly close and a great day out for everyone. A well run modern resort, Kemer has plenty to offer the entire family and great beaches to boot.
5. Dalyan – starting life as a small fishing village this has been carefully developed to create a tourist resort that is sympathetic to its roots. Home to the rock tombs and a river that is bursting with fish and birds, Dalyan also has mud baths, which are rumored to take years off of you and restore your beauty. A lot of coastline and the famous Turtle Beach make this a great place to spend your holiday.
6. Kusadasi – is a bustling resort that is popular with tourists due to its close proximity to Ephesus. The old town has cobbled streets and intimate bars and restaurants tucked away, while the main resort has a number of beaches and plenty of nightlife to suit all ages.
