tourists. The Shwedagon Paya Pagoda can be found here. It was built 2500 years
back. The spire is embellished with gold plates and diamonds. The temple is
renowned for storing Buddha’s four hairs. The tourists visit the temple to see
those hairs. Another rare thing that can be found here is a giant statue of
reclining Buddha. It is said to be almost a thousand years old and was kept
hidden in jungle. At the time when the British engineers used to work at the
railway connection close to Yangon, they felt the need to create a mountain
tunnel. Somehow, the mountain tunnel became more of a statue and the mouth of
Buddha became the hole. This statue had been restored and is now exhibited to
the tourists.

Bagan- This is an ancient
city. It is famous for the ancient temples found here. There are around 4000 of
them and they all are different from one another. They were constructed by
40000 monks or so along with the same number of slaves. Archeological
excavations take place constantly in this place.

Mandalay-
This site too is a very attracting one for the tourists. The Kuthoda Pagoda and
Mahamuni are the two very interesting things to see here. Mandalay Hill, Shvenando
palace are the other attractions of Mandalay.

Nyang Shwe-
Here, you can visit the Inle Lake and see the peasants growing papayas and
tomatoes in the floating artificial plantations. The monastery of jumping cats
is a place that is popular for training cats. Six monks live here.
